Course Overview

Monitoring and Evaluation is an essential tool of programme management. Adopting a monitoring and evaluation practice changes an organizations’ focus from what-it-is-doing, to what-it wants-to-achieve, through tracking of changes registered in the project using predefined indicators of achievement. Besides, Accountability and Learning have become a vital component of modern programming; thereby compelling managers to become more conscious of  their actions, and responsive to stakeholders’ expectations.

Active documentation of things learned during implementation and collective sharing of what has been learned facilitates decision for action. Without prior planning and skills, MEAL implementation cannot be effective in an organization.

In the current scarcity of funds for development assistance or humanitarian response, programmes have faced increasing challenges in winning grants. It is even more challenging for upcoming organizations. This means that a competitive and professionally designed proposal must precede the reviewer’s date of opening the proposals for funding
